Celebrating Poetry

Nancy Boone’s session, “Celebrating Poetry”

Description:  “There is not a particle of life which does not bear poetry within it.” –Gustave Flaubert. All ages, all ability levels can enjoy and benefit from poetry! Come share ideas for infusing poetry across the curriculum. Consider ways to make poetry accessible for students with limited language or other disabilities. Learn about options for creating a school-wide event to celebrate poetry.

Nancy hopes that attendees will be able to: implement poetry activities in classes; host a special event related to poetry

Beth M. learned fun poetry ideas to share with her staff.

Brittany F. learned some great resources available online to get kids excited about poetry and plans to create centers when they talk about poetry (books, online, creation, etc.)

Monica L. learned great new ways to help teachers insert poetry into their day and plans to do a display in her library, pop into classrooms, add some activities to her classes and websites to add to her blog.

Lorrie H. learned about some great ideas to promote poetry all year round.
